Meet the DRichELs Leadership

Bill Zhang, P.Eng., Ph.D

Bill Zhang is the petroleum reservoir systems advisor. He is a specialist, tenured professor of Petroleum Engineering, and a professional engineer. His research interests are Heavy oil EOR, Tight oil/gas reservoir development, High-performance reservoir simulation, Transient pressure analysis and reservoir characterization, Non-Darcy flow in porous media, unconventional gas reservoir development, CO2 EOR & geo-sequestration.

He obtained his BS and MS degrees from the Southwest Petroleum Institute in China, and his Ph.D. from the University of Regina, all in Petroleum Engineering. He worked as a research engineer with the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC).

Abu Yusuf, P.Geo., P.Eng

Abu Yusuf is the Principal Geological Advisor for Geosciences at Drichels Energy Inc. He has 30 years of diverse, international experience in petroleum development and production, with expertise in conventional and unconventional development, field development, reservoir characterization, and 3D modeling. He has been involved in all stages of development and production, including modeling, well planning, drilling monitoring, operations, and formation evaluation. His worldwide experience includes Indonesia, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Yemen, and Canada. Previously, Mr. Sunaryo worked for different multinational Oil and Gas and consulting companies.

Syd Koorosh Khalilinejad MBA, PEng

Syd Koorosh Khalilinejad is Principal Advisor, Business Development at Drichels Energy Inc. Syd has a wealth of International experience in the commercial and operational aspects of upstream projects. He has worked in a variety of roles, including strategy and corporate planning, acquisition and divestiture, portfolio optimization, asset management, production/field operations, and reserves, reservoir/exploitation engineering. Syd’s experience in North America includes management of heavy-oil production from seven Canadian assets, portfolio analysis, upstream valuation, M&A, and asset promotion across oil sands, tight-gas, heavy-oil, and conventional plays. He also led multidisciplinary teams to optimize, design, develop, and construct several SAGD pads and green- and brown-field oil sands facilities (CPF). Syd worked in several emerging markets, including Oman, Pakistan, Iran, the UAE, Yemen, and Tunisia. He led and managed major operations for Baker Hughes and Weatherford. As the country manager of Baker Hughes Pakistan, he revamped the business and introduced new product lines to the market. He also led several geo-steering and horizontal drilling projects in the Persian Gulf (Total Iran project) and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).

Joseph Ambah, P.Eng., PMP

Joseph Ambah is currently the Principal Surface Facilities Advisor and Consultant. Has over 25 years of experience in the industry and in new systems development.

Olu Fasesan, Ph.D

A Director of Drichels Energy. He has a wealth of international experience in subsurface engineering across four continents—reservoir, development, and production. He has worked in a variety of roles, including strategy and corporate planning, acquisition and divestiture, portfolio optimization, unitization, asset management, production/field operations, reserves evaluation, reservoir forecasting and optimization, and reservoir/exploitation engineering. Has served as an adviser to several top management of oil and gas corporations, including the USA Department of Energy. Olu’s experience in North America includes a teaching stint as professor of petroleum engineering at Texas Tech University. He successfully managed reservoir and production operations for over 140,000 boe/d of light and heavy oil production across five North American assets, and was responsible for their development, start-up, optimization, portfolio analysis, upstream valuation, M&A, and value promotion. Furthermore, he led multidisciplinary teams to optimize, design, develop, and construct conventional and heavy-oil projects, from initial concept selection through commissioning, for greenfield and brownfield assets. Olu has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (formerly University of Ife) and a Ph.D in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, USA. He is a professional engineer, registered with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta, Canada (APEGGA), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
